Martial wins September Player of the Month, Pochettion takes home coach’s award
String puller Juan Mata has picked up Manchester United’s Player of the Month award for September, just sneaking in ahead of new boy Anthony Martial.
Manchester United legend Andy Cole is backing Anthony Martial to go on to great things at Old Trafford after his blistering start to the season.
After a slow start to the campaign, in which Spurs failed to win any of their first four matches, the north London club took maximum points from every league game last month.
Martial came on to score an astonishing goal against Liverpool on his debut and then supplemented that showing with two goals in the club’s 3-2 win at Southampton soon after.
Martial bagged the Premier League’s Player of the Month award for the month of September earlier today.
The attacking midfielder hobbled off during the 4-1 win over Manchester City and has not been seen since with Spurs not yet specifying his injury to the supporters.
“I like him, I do like him”, he told MUTV.
“It’s a collective honour because we must recognise first our players, all coaching staff and the fans”, said Pochettino, in quotes published by the LES. He, I think, quickens the game up.
Pochettino was quick to point out that his award was the result of the entire team’s efforts, though that humility sells the Argentine manager’s quality well short. He was always a wide player and that was the player we were trying to get on loan. He topped that off with a magnificent all-round display against Sunderland, when he took on all comers and got an assist for Wayne Rooney’s first goal of the Premier League campaign.
