Sister of missing Kentucky mother questions boyfriend’s story about last
Crystal Rogers, a mother of five from Bardstown, Ky., has been missing for nearly two weeks.
Houck has said he had nothing to with Rogers’ disappearance. Her sister, Brooke Ballard, said she has questioned Houck’s claims that Rogers, 35, stayed up late that night and was gone when he awoke the next morning.
Crystal Rogers, 35, was last seen by her boyfriend July 3 at their home in Nelson County, reports CBS affiliate WLKY.
Her husband, Edsel “Eddie” Barnes, was convicted in 1984 of hiring a man to kill his pregnant wife to avoid the cost of delivering and paying to support the child, the Kentucky New Era reported.
“I’ve been 100 percent cooperative in everything that has been asked of me”. He said his search efforts have been done “behind the scenes”.
However, Houck maintained his innocence, saying he was “100 percent completely honest with everyone” in an interview with HLN on Thursday.
As the search continues, Rogers’ father said he can’t help but think something bad has happened to her.
There’s been no suspects or persons of interest named in the case.
WLKY Missing Kentucky mom Crystal Rogers’ abandoned Chevrolet Impala was discovered unlocked with her purse, keys and phone inside, authorities say.
Houck’s polygraph was inconclusive and the family is now urging him to take it again to help them get answers. It had been abandoned with a flat tire near the Bluegrass Parkway. But her relatives said Rogers rarely visited the area where the vehicle was found. Her keys, purse and uncharged cellphone were found inside.
Rogers’ family is leading a search encompassing a 20-mile radius around the town.
“We’re searching every road, every ditch line, wells, sink holes on properties, we’re going after them”, Rogers’ great uncle Sam Johnson told the station.
Around 100 people from Bardstown, even those who did not know Rogers, have joined in the search. A total of $71,000 in reward money is being offered for information that leads to her return.
Police are asking anyone with information on Rogers’ disappearance to call the sheriff’s office at 502-348-1840.
