Judy Collins: ‘Joni Mitchell Making Good Progress’
Judy Collins, a singer/songwriter whose rendition of Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now” has been entered in the Grammy Hall of Fame, said via her page that a mutual friend told her the Canadian music legend is “walking, talking, painting some, doing much rehab every day”.
Iconic folk artist Joni Mitchell was found unresponsive at her Bel-Air home on March 31 after suffering an aneurysm. “I will try my best to see our songbird when I am in LA in the coming weeks – So – some good news!!”
Collins added, “I love Joni and her songs, and have been passionate about them since that night”.
Mitchell’s attorney Rebecca J Thyne recently described visiting the singer at her home on June 26, telling: “When I arrived she was seated at her kitchen table feeding herself lunch”. It was clear that she was happy to be home and that she has made remarkable progress.
While Collins admitted that recovery doesn’t happen overnight, she is hopeful that Mitchell will one day return to her normal self.
Joni Mitchell was born Roberta Joan Anderson on November 7, 1943 in Fort Macleod, Alberta, Canada.
Mitchell’s most recent release was the 2007 record Shine, her 19th studio album.
Mitchell’s chords, using non-standard tunings, are expensive. Collins has been an important part of Mitchell’s career.
