Del Toro says killing Silent Hills ‘makes no f***ing sense’
Almost six months ago, Konami officially cancelled the Silent Hills project that was being crafted by Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro.
In an interview with Bloody Disgusting, del Toro talked a little about the canceled video game project, with a choice of NSFW words about his experience and what ultimately happened with the game’s cancellation by Konami.
Del Toro states that the experiences was “great and curious” as they had multiple designs and promising story sessions. The PT demo is no longer available on the PSN Store.
Oh hey, it’s that time again where we get to learn why Silent Hills would have been the flawless best game ever if it had not been cancelled. When you ask about how things operate, that makes no f***ing sense at all that that game is not happening. It received a lot of praises when it was revealed that the protagonist was going to be “The Walking Dead” star Norman Reedus. However, while the independent developers at Lilith Ltd are sure to do a fine job with its forthcoming title, the company’s game will undoubtedly live in the forever looming shadow of what Silent Hills could have been. Kojima reportedly spent $80 million for “Metal Gear Solid V” and Forbes reports that games with big-name Hollywood stars can be very expensive. Instead, Konami has chose to pursue other avenues, specifically within the casual pachinko business and mobile games.
In fact, it sounds like they were looking into virtual reality devices to to use in conjunction with the game. According to him, the development work on the game was going pretty smooth, and a few games, such as The Last of Us, that came after the work on Silent Hills had begun even included stuff that the team was designing for the survival horror game.
