2-1 Boston: With 5.57 remaining in the second, the Coyotes went back on the penalty kill after Brad Richardson closed his hand on the puck in the Coyotes offensive end. The goal was Doan’s 900th career point in the National Hockey League.

Arizona jumped out to an early lead after Shane Doan scored his first goal of the season at 2:12 in the first period.

TURNING POINT: The Bruins certainly buckled in the third period when Arizona scored a pair of goals to tie up the game in the third period, but the Bruins didn’t break down despite losing the momentum away from home. Smith stopped shots from David Pastrnak at 16:48 of the period and Krejci during a power play, finishing with 38 saves.

“Our execution was poor”, Coyotes coach Dave Tippett said. That two-goal cushion, however, lasted all of 13 seconds.

“They came hard at us and we didn’t have an answer for that most of the game”, Coyotes forward Tobias Rieder said.

Things got a bit nasty during the second period, with Miller engaging in the Bruins’ first fight of the season with Arizona center Joe Vitale. “Couple of mistakes on puck management”.

The Bruins continued to flight shots at Coyotes goalie Mike Smith in the second, and after a few near misses (Loui Eriksson beating Smith five-hole but missing the net, for example), they finally broke through. With Arizona caught on its heels, a quick pass to Krejci and a ideal saucer pass from Krejci to Randell sets up an open chance at goal.

“We have to get back to how we played the first three-games”, Rieder said.

NOTES: Marchand returned from a concussion suffered on October. 10 against Montreal…. With Marchand’s return, Brett Connolly will be a healthy scratch Saturday.

Tyler Randell, who surprised many by earning a roster spot after a strong preseason campaign, put the Bruins on the board at 8:42 in the second period, tying the game at 1-1.

With the Bruins looking for ways out of their early season slump, the old cliche of having your best players be your best players seemed worth a try.

Rask made another huge save on a shorthanded 2-on-1 chance with around five minutes left in the second period.
