Messam Follows Glenn Out Riders’ Door on Trade Deadline Day
According to the Canadian Press on Wednesday, the Montreal Alouettes traded defensive back Mike Edem to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats for a sixth round draft pick in the 2016 Canadian Football League Draft and a conditional seventh round draft pick in the 2017 Canadian Football League Draft. The Riders will receive a fifth-round draft pick in return.
Glenn, meanwhile, is joining his eighth CFL team (only Edmonton remains on the list) and gets yet another shot to pursue the first championship of his career.
Glenn played nine games with Saskatchewan this season.
Hamilton travels to Montreal on Sunday. The Alouettes have lost three quarterbacks to injury – Jonathon Crompton, Dan LeFevour, Rakeem Cato – and a hastily-prepared Glenn likely gives them a better chance than rookie Anthony Boone or third-year man Tanner Marsh.
“It can only help us”, Green said of Glenn’s arrival. The 6-1, 200-pound native of Lagos, Nigeria, has appeared in 39 career CFL regular season games (16 starts) and three playoff games, all with the Alouettes.
“It’s tough sometimes getting traded in the middle of the year, but I beleive Montreal has a great team”, said Glenn.
“We have too good of a team”.
“I think I’ve got a lot left”, he said.
Glenn has suited up in nine games for the Riders this season, completing 171 passes for 2,174 yards and nine touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
