Woman found dead in bathtub with burns on her body in Queens

Police have ruled the death of a woman who was found in her bathtub in Queens yesterday with burns all over her body as a homicide.

EMS responded and pronounced Velez-Samayoa dead at the scene.

Police said Miriam Velez-Samayoa, 28, was killed in the Jamaica apartment on 90th Avenue early Saturday.

Police sources said the woman’s corpse was doused in a few sort of accelerant, adding that there were no canisters found nearby to suggest that she had poured it on herself.

Officials say it is unclear whether the victim’s boyfriend is a suspect in the case.

The victim had burns to her body.

The Medical Examiner will determine the exact cause of death as police continue to investigate.
