Chargers vs. Packers, Week 6 2015: Game thread and updates
I know a lot of people are saying “It would be so Chargers for the team to beat the Packers in Green Bay today, ” and that might be true, but with a roster this injured it may actually require devine intervention.
The Green Bay Packers will host the San Diego Chargers today.
Green Bay, though, hasn’t faced an opponent ranked higher than 15th in total offense this season. The San Diego don’t generate consistent pressure, so veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers should be able to slide around for wide receivers to come open.
#4 Homefield Advantage: Also since midway through the Packers 2010 Super Bowl season… Lifetime the Chargers are 1-9 against Green Bay, while the Packers are 33-2 in their last 35 home games. This throws out the game Rodgers started against the Bears in 2012 but did not finish after breaking his collarbone on the first drive. The SD Chargers gave up a 72-yard touchdown to Pittsburgh Steelers’ Markus Wheaton in Week Five; the Green Bay Packers should test San Diego Chargers’ deep coverage with WR Jones, who caught a 65-yard touchdown last weekend. But as a rookie with the Chargers, Gordon has yet to find the end zone. San Diego has also lost to Cincinnati and Minnesota and has wins over Detroit and Cleveland.
Rodgers, 31, is set to become the 40th player in National Football League history to reach 30,000 yards, although Matt Ryan of the Atlanta Falcons is just 83 yards from reaching the mark himself and will likely eclipse it during a Week 7 game against the Tennessee Titans.
Elsewhere in the NFL, earlier this week the Atlanta Falcons suffered their first defeat of the season, coming up short against the New Orleans Saints on NFL Thursday Night Football. Linebacker Nate Palmer will be our in studio guest this week.
