Injured In Crash Along Metro Gold Line
A Toyota Corolla collided with a Metro train in Pasadena, seriously injuring two people and prompting the temporary suspension of Gold Line service between two stations early Sunday afternoon, officials said.
Pasadena police closed California Boulevard between Raymond Avenue and Arroyo Parkway due to the collision that ocurred about 11:30 a.m.
A passenger on the train, Stephanie Chacon, 24, was on her way home to Highland Park when the collision occurred.
About two dozen people were aboard the train during the crash but no other injuries were reported, Pasadena Fire said.
Officials shut down California Avenue between Raymond Avenue and South Arroyo Parkway as they investigated the scene and worked to clear the wreckage.
Police Lt. John Mercado says it appears the auto drove under a crossing arm and onto the train tracks. The conductor was unable to stop in time to avoid a crash.
Two male occupants inside the Corolla were transported to a local hospital in serious condition, Pasadena fire spokeswoman Lisa Derderian said.
Metro said the delays will likely continue until 2:30 p.m.
