James Franco celebrates with Miley Cyrus, Seth Rogen at charity bar mitzvah
Variety reports that Franco’s bar mitzvah was hosted by Hilarity for Charity, a nonprofit founded by Franco’s buddy Seth Rogen and his wife Lauren Miller Rogan. Cyrus, meanwhile, performed with house band The Super Jews and did Rick James 1981 hit Super Freak’ while holding a huge star of David.
The event, which was presented by amusing Or Die and livestreamed on the app go90, benefited the Alzheimer’s Association. Well, Cyrus strutted around the Hollywood Palladium stage in front of the mitzvah boy wearing a gold cape that read “Shalom, y’all”. Because she’s just being Miley.
Following the celebration, Cyrus posted a series of snaps to Instagram, including a collage of amusing photos from the evening. “Everything I did prior to this moment I didn’t do as a man but as a mere child”.
“I want to welcome all the Jews, semi-Jews and gentiles pretending to be Jews to get ahead in Hollywood”, Rogen, dressed as Tevye from Fiddler on the Roof, joked during the introduction to the night before launching into a song from the famous musical. “And @mileycyrus sang me a song”, the 37-year-old guest of honor wrote. Past shows featured the talents of Paul Rudd, Kevin Hart, Aziz Ansari, Sarah Silverman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, among others, and the 2014 prom night-themed event raised $1 million.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen her go all out for charity this month.
