‘Lego Batman’ Finds Its Batgirl
Barbara Gordon is Commissioner Gordon’s daughter, the PhD in library science (for a few reason) who ultimately begins to fight crime under the moniker Batgirl.
The actress will be joined in Lego Batman by comedic actors Will Arnett, Michael Cera, and Zach Galifianakis, who will play Batman, Robin, and The Joker, respectively.
Dawson has lent her voice to DC characters in the past, as she’s voiced Artemis in 2009’s animated Wonder Woman, and Wonder Woman in this year’s Justice League: Throne of Atlantis.
LEGO Batman is slated to come out in 2017. Chris Miller, Phil Lord, and Dan Lin are producing.
Dawson is no stranger to the comic book movie realm as she starred in the Sin City franchise and Men in Black 2. This is essentially replacing it as a big budget theatrical series due to the insane popularity of The LEGO Movie.
Chris McKay (Robot Chicken) will be directing the spin-off, with Seth Grahame-Smith (Dark Shadows, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) writing the script.
Dawson has comic street cred having made her mark on Marvel’s Netflix Universe, playing the Night Nurse for both DAREDEVIL and the coming LUKE CAGE. Be sure to let us know in the comments what you think of Dawson’s new role as Batgirl.
Dawson is reportedly a huge comic book fan, though – at least professionally – that love is not divided along the typical Marvel/DC party lines.
