NFL Gambling Free Pick: Washington Redskins at New York Jets
A big passing play from Jet quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick to Eric Decker for 45 yard helped set up a one-yard Chris Ivory touchdown to level the scores.
Under bets have gone 13-3 in the last 16 games when the New York Jets come off a bye week. They’ll be missing two starting offensive linemen, including Kirk Cousins best protector, tackle Trent Williams; bad news on a week where the Jets get behemoth defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson back in the lineup.
The Jets would turn the ball over on their next drive as Brandon Marshall was stripped of the ball by Bashaud Breeland and Kai Forbath would kick his team back on terms with their hosts.
So if the Redskins defense can slow down the Jets running game and force turnovers from Ryan Fitzpatrick they will improve their chances of winning. Brees connected excellently with Ben Watson, who posted a career high of 127 yards receiving, including a fourth down touchdown catch.
Against the Atlanta Falcons, Cousins threw an interception in overtime, which was returned 59 yards for a touchdown as the Redskins lost 19-25. Today, he tallied two fumble recoveries and an interception. Gang Green matched its win total last season with today’s victory over Washington at the Meadowlands. Tight end Jordan Reed, center Kory Lichtensteiger and backup running back Matt Jones were also out. Dustin Hopkins’ 30-yard field goal was good, and the Redskins took a 13-10 lead going into halftime. It was Revis’ sixth takeaway of the season.
Marshall made it 26-13 with a terrific fingertips catch just off his shoe tops, getting inside of Breeland on a low throw. New York is plus-six in turnover margin and its 3.3 takeaways per game are the most in the NFL. So it was with Decker’s early miscue against Washington. Ross, who had a 101-yard kickoff return for a touchdown against the Giants in September, recovered a Jeron Johnson blocked punt to cut the Jets’ lead to 34-20 with four minutes to play.
After a nifty screen play to Jamison Crowder which resulted in a 12-yard gain, the Redskins faced a 3 and 5 from the Jets’ 20 when Cousins found Ryan Grant for the first down on a tough catch by the second-year receiver out of Tulane.
On the immediate possession, the Skins marched down the short field for 37 yards – Pierre Garcon beat All-World cornerback Darrelle Revis at the goal line for the game’s first touchdown.
