Tracy Morgan returns to SNL

Morgan is continuing to work on film projects and has been preparing a new comedy series for the FXX cable channel. This time, Astronaut Jones channeled Matt Damon’s character in The Martian, though Jones has always been a little more Rat Pack than rogue.

In another sketch, Larry David, the alumnus of “S.N.L” appeared to impersonate Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont in an opening send-up of CNN’s Democratic presidential debate. And although he may not have lived up to his oft-repeated promise to get somebody pregnant, the “30 Rock” funnyman was welcomed back with open arms. David’s impersonation of Sanders is spot-on.

In his touching monologue, Morgan joked about recovering from a vehicle accident.

“People are wondering can he speak?”

“But the truth is, I never did”, he continued.

Best of all, Morgan – who suffered a traumatic brain injury previous year when the auto he was riding in was struck by a tractor trailer – refused to play the victim, and even found a way to joke about his current mental and physical limitations during the opening monologue.

Morgan’s 30 Rock family also showed up to support him on Saturday, including Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin, Jane Krakowski, and Jack McBrayer.

“As you can see everything is going to be just fine”, Tracy shared with the audience after the skit. Demi Lovato was the musical guest that night, and she also performed flawlessly. Her first performance “Cool For The Summer” was an up-tempo romp while the second song, a stripped-down ballad called “Stone Cold”, gave her a chance to really show off her pipes.

Morgan, 46, participated in several sketches, including one about Family Feud and another about action star Jackie Chan’s current whereabouts.

The other sketches were mighty thin.

“SNL” told everyone where Morgan is. Does this mean that over-estimated the interest in Morgan coming back from his bad accident? You can believe him.
