Google offering instant invites to Project Fi for the next 24 hours
Google was kind enough to loan me review device, and here is are my first impressions of the Nexus 6P. Most notably, though, the nexus 5X comes with the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system.
The Nexus 6P is notably heavy (178 grams), heavier than the Nexus 6 that hit the streets previous year.
The battery is outstanding thus far and I’ve gotten through an entire day of regular use without having to charge. It seems that USB Power Delivery does not fully work on other devices sporting USB Type-C devices as of the moment.
In terms of looks, the Nexus 6P is made entirely out of aeronautical grade aluminum body, giving it a premium feel that everybody loves. So the chances are, the phone you’re using presently has the old USB 2.0 and 3.0 versions that only allow a data transfer or a connection-of-sorts between Laptops, Computers and portable devices such as a Camera or a Smartphone.
The front-facing camera is 8 megapixels and shoots a pretty decent HD video. It can also shoot 4K videos, which nowadays it’s a must for each device that aims for the top. Interestingly, it’s been discovered that, if you connect the Nexus 6P to the Nexus 5X via a USB Type-C cable, the former starts charging the latter. Once you plug these ends into two phones, you will observe a notification popping up on your screen, asking you to choose the function you want on that particular phone. It’s something other phones from other companies simply can’t boast because they need to go through an insane amount of effort to make sure their own software layers, or skins, are compatible with Google’s updates.
O2 does feature Nexus 5X in its online store but hasn’t made pricing and monthly plans available yet. Notably, both Samsung Galaxy S6 with “7 hours and 14 minutes” and Apple iPhone 6s with “8 hours and 15 minutes” trumped the Nexus device fair and square. Like with the Nexus 6P, the Nexus 5X screen is defended by a toughened Gorilla Glass.
After manufacturing Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 for Google, Korean electronics giant LG is now manufacturing another Nexus device for Google which will be next gen version of the 2013 Nexus 5.
Ever since Project Fi debuted earlier this year, the only way to join the service was to request an invite and then wait for Google to send it you.
