‘Microsoft Lumia’ News: ‘Lumia 550’ Dubbed the Most Affordable LTE Phone

As part of the wide-range roll out of the new OS, the company has launched new Lumia handsets powered by Windows 10 Mobile, the Surface Pro 4 tablet and the biggest surprise among the devices, Microsoft’s first laptop.

“Business-focused devices, phones for customers looking for low price smartphones, and high end devices for Windows enthusiasts” are going to be unveiled pretty soon, hinted Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, according to WMPowerUser.

The new Surface Pro 4 Type Cover takes Surface Pro 4 from tablet to laptop in an instant and features a redesigned mechanical keyboard with optimal key spacing for fast and fluid typing.

The 13.5-inch Microsoft Surface Book laptop and thin tablet is recently added to its OEM’s Surface line-up.

Microsoft Surface Book also boasts of a dynamic fulcrum hinge and muscle wire lock, which allows the laptop screen to detach from the keyboard easily. Microsoft priced the Surface Book at $1,499 to start.

As I’ve previously argued, there are several hybrid devices that can compete with the iPad Pro and the Surface Pro 4, namely the Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro and the new Lenovo IdeaPad Miix 700. The 550 has a 4.7-inch HD display and runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 210 processor. Triple RGB flash is also included, meaning no more red eye and no ghost-like appearances. Microsoft did not set any pricing, leaving it up to local retailers or telecom operators to establish prices and availability.

Departing Lumia smartphone will purportedly get the highly anticipated Windows 10 Mobile update beginning on December. The Lumia 550 will begin rolling out in select European markets in December, with additional markets to follow.

Microsoft Corp. introduced its first-ever laptop, wading deeper into hardware to spur adoption of its Windows 10 operating system and crank up the competition with Apple Inc. and Google Inc. The upgrade, which will launch in November, features backward compatibility that enables users to play Xbox 360 games on Xbox One for free with 100 games at launch and hundreds more in the months ahead.

In the US, Surface Book, Surface Pro 4, Lumia 950, Lumia 950 XL, Microsoft Band 2 and Xbox One will be available through microsoftstore.com, a few 110 Microsoft stores, authorized resellers and select partner retailers.
