Woman arrested after man dies on Aer Lingus flight
Before his death, the 25-year-old man had to be restrained by members of the crew after he reportedly became agitated and bit another passenger. The plane had to be diverted to the southwest Irish city of Cork and once landed paramedics pronounced the man dead.
A 24-year-old man who bit another passenger on an Aer Lingus flight died after cocaine pellets burst in his stomach.
And this is how the zombie apocalypse starts. “Not screaming in a sense you know if you’d hurt yourself or something, just a very guttural sound, from deep within him”.
A post-mortem examination is set to be carried out on the man’s body as investigators assess whether he had an underlying medical condition.
Gardaí have said the cause of the man’s death has not been released yet, for operational reasons.
The young man who died on an Aer Lingus flight had €60,000 worth of drugs in his stomach, it’s believed.
Cork police arrested a 44-year-old Portuguese woman travelling with him after discovering five pounds of suspected amphetamine powder in her suitcase.
Following the incident, police questioned all of the plane’s 170 crew and passengers.
In an interview with 96FM, passenger John Leonard claimed the man’s health and disposition declined after he was handcuffed.
The crew had to broadcast an emergency “Pan Pan” message three times and told air traffic controllers about the incident, before making an unscheduled landing at Cork airport.
A Garda spokesman said: “We have yet to establish who the man is but believe he is 25 years old and from Portugal”. According to a statement released by Aer Lingus, the plane had been forced to divert to Cork airport “medical emergency on board”.
A short time later the captain made an announcement over the intercom asking if there was a medical professional on board the flight.
