Eagles vs. Carolina Panthers injury report: Latest on Mychal Kendricks, Kiko
Mychal Kendricks and Kiko Alonso were both injured during the Dallas game on September 20. Hicks, a rookie third-round draft pick, has slid into a starring role and thrived, making 31 tackles over the past five games.
Whilst it’s unlikely that either linebacker will make an appearance against Carolina, seeing them both take a few reps in practice is going to surely be a big step forward.
When Alonso does come back, the team will probably keep him on a few sort of pitch count.
However, it was less of a dumb throw by Manning, and more of a great play call from Billy Davis, executed to perfection by the Eagles defense.
Alonso hasn’t played since Week 2 against the Dallas Cowboys, but has picked up his workload considerably this week, taking part in individual drills at the start of practice for the first time since the injury. He had arthroscopic surgery later that week, but said it had nothing to do with his torn ACL suffered the summer before that caused him to miss the entire 2014 season. He tried to give it a go in Week 4 against the Redskins, but left the game early and has not played since.
After picking up a hamstring injury that was looked at on Monday, defensive Mufsa DeMeco Ryans will not practice today after his huge game against the Giants. Agholor hasn’t played since suffering an ankle injury in Week 5.
In other Eagles injury news, wide receiver Nelson Agholor (ankle), wide receiver Riley Cooper (knee) and inside linebacker DeMeco Ryans (hamstring) all took the practice field without a helmet, a sign that they would be spending the day on the sidelines. This season, Curry is playing 35 percent. Davis said he expected Ryans to rest today but expects him to play against the Panthers because he’s a “warrior”.
