Guild Wars 2 has 7 million player accounts
To highlight that growth, ArenaNet also released an infographic today announcing that Guild Wars 2 has reached more than 7 million player accounts globally.
When it comes to Guild Wars 2 ‘s base game, which transitioned to a free model earlier this year, O’Brien stated, “We can do this because we believe when players come into the game they’ll love it and consider upgrading to our expansion, Heart of Thorns”.
Revealing these fresh screenshots, ArenaNet announced that Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns is now live and available at digital and retail stores across North America and Europe. There’s something Ghibli-esque about Guild Wars’ new vine-acular villains. “Together with new zones, features and content touching on every aspect of the game from PvE to PvP to guild play and even Guild Wars 2 ‘s unique World vs. World mode, and with Raids on the horizon, Heart of Thorns is one to watch for every MMO and RPG savant”. He also said that, “So we don’t have the same sort of indicators when we’re looking at lapsed and recurring players because for whatever reason it might be we’re still on the desktop and they double-click, patch and then they’re in the game despite having not played in the last six months”.
Tell us, are you still playing Guild Wars 2? “We’re eager to see how our fast growing community continues to flourish, and we hope they’re eager to embrace where their Guild Wars 2 journey takes them next in Heart of Thorns”.
Heart of Thorns adds a new profession, Revenant, as well as new elite specialisations that each bring new weapons and skills to existing professions. Moreover, PvP is getting a new MOBA inspired game mode (Stronghold) along with PvP Leagues, while WvW gets an entirely new map (Desert Borderlands) to play with. For starters there will be a new Mastery system that helps players progress their characters in new ways.
