Orlando Officer Run Over During Traffic Stop
Harrowing video of a traffic stop on Monday shows Orlando Police Officer William Anderson being run over by fleeing suspects.
According to the video, as Anderson reaches the drivers side window, a passenger in the suspect’s vehicle jumps out of the right side of the auto.
The 53-second video shows as Anderson stops behind the sedan in left hand turn lane near Kirkman Road and Vineland Street.
The Orlando Sentinel reports the officer was working an off-duty assignment at the 24-hour restaurant when he tried to stop a silver four-door.
Officials say there was a shooting moments before the crash, but they have not said whether it was connected to the traffic stop.
Authorities in Florida are searching for two men who are accused of hitting a police officer with their vehicle. The officer did fire his weapon.
Police said Anderson was in stable condition and recovering at an area hospital.
Both the driver and passenger were still at large, and Orlando police did not have a description of either person available as of Tuesday morning.
