The town hall meeting is being hosted by Alderman Robert Bauman, and will take place from 6:00 p.m.to 8:00 p.m.at the Milwaukee Public Library’s Centennial Hall on N. 8th Street.
Bauman said Mayor Tom Barrett will deliver a presentation on the arena proposal during the district’s town hall meeting.
Wisconsin senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald said Tuesday that he still doesn’t have the support needed to bring up a financing measure for the proposed new Milwaukee Bucks arena. The city of Milwaukee and Milwaukee County would contribute similar amounts. “I am working on behalf of state taxpayers to ensure a solid return on their investment, and as county executive, believing that an investment of this magnitude in our region benefits all of us”. If the arena is not built, the National Basteball Association will allow the team to move, with Seattle or Las Vegas as likely destinations. “We don’t have them right now, but we will have them, I would hope, and if we don’t it would be a real shame”, Darling said. That $250 million in public money would get close to $400 million with interest over 20 years.
Waukesha County Executive Paul Farrow, who is transitioning to the role from his state senator position this week, today issued a statement encouraging legislators to vote for the arena deal.
