After Dadri, Haryana Dalit Attack Sparks Political Fight
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Thursday squarely blamed both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress, besides other political outfits for perpetrating large scale atrocities on Dalits across the country. “We also want to know what action has he taken against the BJP leaders and NDA Ministers who have vitiated the atmopshere through their remarks”.
Meanwhile, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and RJD chief Lalu Yadav teamed up against the BJP on Twitter and launched a scathing attack saying, “Gen. Singh’s statement only shows BJP’s mentality, whoever speaks against Dalit in BJP gets promoted”, said Mr Yadav.
The BSP president also said that Congress scion Rahul Gandhi’s visit was only a show-off vis-a-vis the Faridabad incident. What you have seen is the result of this attitude.
Holding Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar and his government responsible for the issue, he had termed the incident as “complete law and order failure”.
Prasad, in a tweet, said, “I had demanded that the anti-Dalit books by Modi and Guru Golwalkar be burned but in their rule Dalit themselves are being burned”.
Addressing a press conference, Mayawati said, “The dalit burning incident was shameful; indicates that BJP not concerned or sensitive towards dalits”.
Activists said the Khattar Government has failed in stopping this type of incident and at the same time has caused an exponential increase of the further oppression and blatant attempt to deprive minorities from even the right to life. “The Laxmanpur Bathe massacre in December 1997 had horrified the country so much so that the then President (K.R. Narayan) had described it as a “national shame'”, the BJP leader recalled”.
