Lion cubs treated to pumpkins at Fort Worth Zoo
Despite predictions of inclement weather, Zoo officials say the event will take place “rain or shine”.
Costume Contests: Nightly at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Registration begins at 1 p.m. both days. Children will be judged in three age divisions and the top three winners in each group will receive prizes. It will be emceed by the “world famous” Kazoobie.
Music, drumming and fun will also be offered at the African Amphitheatre. Denver Zoo’s Scholarship fund has awarded more than $1 million in scholarships to schools and families in the past five years.
On the zoo’s West Mall, the Pumpkin Smasher will demolish pumpkins every hour. Kids and their families are welcome to dress up in their favorite Halloween costumes and enjoy treats, up-close animal encounters, a fire show, face painting, a maze at Carousel Meadows and interactive booths for the kids.
Across the way at The Swamp is a chat about scorpions at 2 p.m., followed by a snake chat at 2:30 p.m.at Feathers and Scales.
A few 3,000 trick-or-treaters are expected downtown Sunday for the 32nd Annual Spooktacular, one of the events that figured heavily into Royal Oak’s selection as the No. 2 trick-or-treating town in America. Dino World also continues through the month.
