Kanche movie dialogues creates buzz
But Krish’s attempt at giving an outsider’s insight into an event which happened almost 75-80 years ago is appreciable because he manages to recreate an era gone by and the attention to detail can be seen with special care to the attires – except for Pragya who looks too fancy and made up for those times – and their props. How did Hari Babu and other soldiers struggle for II World War battle? Seethamma Devi (Pragya Jaiswal) is a young princess, heir to the Devarakonda throne, studying in Madras. Dhupati Hari Babu (Varun Tej) is a very calm and middle class guy who falls in the love of rich girl Seeta Devi (Pragya Jaiswal). They are from the same village and their love story follows them there. Pragya looks sufficiently regal and elegant, but that does not discount her acting skill. Eshwar inspires Hari Babu to enter the army, but soon they become enemies as Eshwar feels his caste pride is threatened by Seethamma’s love for Hari. The story isn’t much different, Hari realises, as he becomes an officer fighting the Germans at the border of Italy. Moreover, the second half has several flaws in war scenes, and at a time, they even test the patience of the audience. Watch the movie to find out.
And not to forget, the director is supported by a skillful technical crew which is evident from the war sequences which come to life with the aid of lovely camera work. What ticks you off, however, are a few scenes that make no sense. This, after it has already been established that all the Indian soldiers in that battalion are not Telugu!
Story: The movie is set up in the backdrop of 1930’s and 40’s and take us back before Independence. Don’t know how it will be received by other audience. A few of the songs just do not seem like they would have been sung in the 1940s, while we can swear that fishnet was not used as a material for langas (skirts) in that period.
Varun Tej is going to hit the theaters with his second movie which is a War oriented film and named as Kanche which released today i.e., on October 22nd, 2015.
Krish has a reputation to live up to.
Bottomline: A labour of love worth watching. Gollapudi, Singeetam Srnivasa Rao, Niketin Dheer and Srinivas Avasarala has performed well and delivered their best performance. While doing so, he is also breaking the invisible fence that limits the Telugu film industry. Watch the film because it is a flawless movie to share with your family. Those should be good enough reasons, no?
