Blake Shelton Files Lawsuit Over Tabloid Rehab Report
Blake Shelton has filed a defamation lawsuit against In Touch Weekly magazine for claiming Blake’s alcoholism was partially to blame for his divorce from Miranda Lambert.
“Blake Shelton Suing Mag for $1 Million!” is categorized as “entertainment”. Shelton’s camp said that the publication went so far to say that Shelton has hit “rock bottom”. To be clear: “Mr. Shelton has not hit rock bottom”, Shelton’s legal representatives said. In addition, Shelton is preparing to headline a tour in 2016.
It contests that the tabloid has repeatedly published false rumors and information regarding Shelton’s breakup with Lambert. Blake is also seeking an injunction to prevent InTouch from repeating what he says are libelous claims about his alleged alcoholism and heavy drinking.
The tabloid magazine reportedly published a cover story in late September claiming that Shelton had a drinking problem, committed infidelity and was headed to rehab. In Touch also printed that Blake drinks and womanizes, and his behavior “helped torpedo his 4-year marriage”, while his “close friends have talked about an intervention”. Blake Shelton was married to Miranda Lambert from 2011 to 2015.
The complaint said “Blake Shelton has had enough”, reported People magazine.
Blake is slowly moving on after his very public split from Miranda Lambert last July 20, which, according to Blake, “happens so fast” in Oklahoma, according to Us Weekly. News that following his divorce, The Voice mentor is “in a good place”. They are to reunite for the first time since splitting up at the 2015 Country Music Association Awards, as they are both part of the the roster of performers.
