Love For Sherwani, Biryani Makes New Canadian PM Pakistani
Leading up to the election many musicians made their voices heard to encourage people to vote, a few went so far as to say for whom.
The NDP entered the election campaign in the lead. Proportional representation seems to be the preferred system for the Liberal party and voters in Canada. But the party ended up fighting media skepticism about the costs of its proposals.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, the son of the late Canadian premier Pierre Trudeau, is a proud feminist too! Finally, their positive ads and high-energy leader’s tour ensured that their candidates, volunteers and a winning swath of Canadians bought, owned, shared and ultimately voted for this message. They voted against Stephen Harper. Harper had said removing the jets from the fight would hurt relations with Obama. The video uploaded on Tuesday shows the 43-year-old Liberal leader wearing a white desi kurta-pyjama and dupatta dancing to the tunes of Hadippa – the breakout theme song from the 2009 Bollywood film “Dil Bole Hadippa”, Huffington Post Canada reported today.
We will reverse Stephen Harper’s cuts and make new investments to support our national broadcaster.
Because ISIS is the only Sunni force capable of confronting the Shia forces in both Iraq and Syria, it receives varying degrees of support from neighboring Sunni states, particularly Saudi Arabia.
Unfortunately, that apology didn’t portend better days.
For much of the 78-day campaign, Canada’s major parties-the ruling Conservatives, the official opposition New Democrats, and the Liberals-were locked in a statistical dead heat. But the Trudeau team says it’s taking advantage of the “blank slate” of a new government to build a new structure.
Justin Trudeau’s campaign promise to end the bombing mission, while continuing to train Iraqis away from the front lines, represented a balanced approach to recognizing the complexity of the Syrian conflict and the limited options available to the West.
It’s hard to overstate the personal animosity Harper generated in his last years in office.
Worringly, the law expanded the network of government agencies responsible for collecting information on Canadians whose activities could be alleged to threaten the security of Canada, including its economic security.
“Today, on this solemn anniversary, I join Canadians from coast to coast to coast in committing that we shall continue moving forward, together”.
As a result, many Canadians felt targeted more than governed-especially Canadian Muslims. And Justin Trudeau, a millionaire married to a gorgeous television host, has been lucky his whole life.
At first glance, the Liberal victory was a superficial one for the left.
The 1991 Broadcasting Act states that the CBC should provide radio and television services that offer distinctively Canadian programming and reflects the languages, values, and cultural expressions of Canadians. For example, though he promised to set binding carbon emissions reduction targets in worldwide climate talks later this year in Paris, Trudeau has publicly supported the Keystone XL pipeline. His party endorses the yet-to-be-ratified Canada-EU Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement, and will nearly certainly back the Trans-Pacific Partnership, even though it was negotiated entirely by the outgoing Conservatives. (He was a jerk, but he was “our” jerk, they implied in editorials shrugging off the government’s anti-democratic tendencies.) This will create significant rightward pressure on the Liberals, despite running on a progressive platform. A big infrastructure-spending promise will become a tug-of-war between cities, provinces, reserves and multiple ministries.
The Liberals may also make Canada the first country in North America to legalize marijuana.
Congratulations to each of the newly elected and re-elected Members of Parliament. When contrasted against the Liberals’ plan to tax Canada’s One Per Cent and transfer this wealth to the middle-class like Robin Hood in the Sherwood Forest, could more boutique tax credits even compete? They also have an opportunity to revitalize their democracy, which had been sidelined and almost dismantled by the previous government.
Perhaps the most novel aspect of the election was that foreign policy turned out to be an issue.
