Former NRL player ‘scores WWE contract’
Brisbane Broncos star Daniel Vidot says he has secured a contract with WWE.
Vidot claims he has signed a three-year deal with WWE but in what would appear to be an unusually structured deal, he will continue playing rugby for the next few years.
Vidot said on his Facebook page that he had attended a three-day trial at the WWE’s official school in Florida, the WWE Performance Center.
He has represented Samoa in rugby league 10 times, having scored six tries.
“WWE trial finished and they said…” Vidot said he will see out his existing sporting contracts in Australia before moving to the US.
“Three-year deal is what it’s looking like, but won’t be til a couple years away”.
The WWE has a history of turning athletes into wrestlers, most notably Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who was a failed footballer before he first joined the WWE and later became Hollywood’s highest-grossing actor.
“They first approached me a year ago but I was playing good football with the Broncos, so I didn’t take it seriously”.
Vidot also has acting experience after performing in several shows while he was based in Canberra.
