Tesla S Consumer Reports Rating Downgraded to “Worse Than Average”
Tesla’s Model S P85D electric, all-wheel drive vehicle, the priciest of Tesla’s line of luxury electric cars, received a flawless rating for its performance from Consumer Reports in August.
Musk also said that the CR reliability included many older cars, and that numerous issues have already been addressed in newer vehicles. A Tesla spokesman noted that, with the companies’ networked software, many repairs could be made without owners needing to bring in their cars.
Tesla founder Elon Musk argues a Consumer Reports reliability survey that led the latter announcing it can’t recommend the Tesla S because of the electric car’s reliability problems is flawed because it covers pre production models.
Meanwhile, other automakers such as General Motors (NYSE:GM) and Honda Motor (NYSE:HMC) struggled with in-car entertainment systems and other new technologies, while Fiat Chrysler (NYSE:FCAU) brands continued to hold near the bottom.
The withdrawal of Consumer Reports’ recommendation for Tesla cars is considered as a huge blow for the company since the magazine can significantly affect the buying behavior of the public. All of these were a few of the problems faced by the consumers who gave the feedback and there can be other problems not mentioned above. The driver of the auto, YouTube uploader RockTreeStar, suggests that the Tesla’s Autosteer function – which works by tracking the vehicle in front – attempted to follow the oncoming auto as it entered its sensor range. In the end it means that all is fine with Tesla Model S customer satisfaction.
The entrepreneur said at a forum at Tsinghua University in Beijing that producing cars locally could help cut prices of Tesla cars by a third thanks to reduced shipping costs and a lack of import duties, according to The Wall Street Journal. The ideas seemed limited only by Tesla fans’ imaginations: updated browser, more music services, better climate control. “In instances when hardware needs to be fixed, we strive to make it painless”, said the statement.
