David Goyer Offers Update on Superman Prequel Series Krypton
During an interview with IBTimes United Kingdom, Syfy’s executive vice president of original content – Bill McGoldrick shed a few light on what fans can expect from Krypton. Man of Steel’s grandfather will try to bring the planet back on its feet, as that one planet where the greatest Super Hero will be born. Goyer was also the creator of the short-lived “Blade: The Series” with Kirk “Sticky Fingaz” Jones succeeding Wesley Snipes as the half-human, half-vampire Daywalker, a role Snipes played in the film trilogy written by Goyer, who was also one of the writers for Jonathan and Christopher Nolan’s “Dark Knight” trilogy with Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman.
It’s been nearly a year since we heard David S. Goyer (Man of Steel) was developing a Superman prequel television series at Syfy. “There were a lot of ideas that I wanted to use in the film that didn’t ultimately make it into the film”.
“Krypton” is expected to become the 8th DC related TV series should everything goes according to plan. In terms of production value, you have to pick your moments.
We watched Clark Kent (Tom Welling), the boy from CW’s “Smallville”, grow to become the “Man of Steel” known as Superman: fighting for truth, justice and the American Way.
Steve recently sat down with Goyer to discuss the new season of his Starz series Da Vinci’s Demons, and took the opportunity to ask Goyer about the status Krypton.
Goyer further revealed that in this SyFy’s project, “We scratched the surface in the film and, for me, that was the allure”. While we would have figured that no news means development hell, if not a dead idea, it appears that the Krypton series has not exploded quite yet. I was always fascinated, as a kid, with the books about Krypton and they’ve only shaded in a tiny bit, so we’ll learn about the politics of the world. “It won’t be wall-to-wall visual effects every single moment, a spectacle in the way the film will be, but we’ll also be digging into the characters and culture a lot more”.
