‘Sports Illustrated’ Model Robyn Lawley Shuts Down Stretch Mark Haters With
Robyn Lawley has given an excellent response to suggestions she was so anxious about getting stretch marks she considered terminating her pregnancy. “But to read that entire article and be already heavily pregnant, that’s their angle?” Because they are a few bad ass #tigerstripes (sic). However, like many other women who are in the full flight of their career, young and perhaps uncertain as to whether they might be ready to have children, prior to her decision, Robyn said that had considered all of her options. Men and women have shared stories about how they love their (or their partner’s) stretch marks. And while she was enraged by the suggestion that she would choose her body over her baby, she also wants to make sure new moms know that their bodies are lovely and nothing short of astounding.

And with a fiercely-positive attitude like that, Lawley’s baby girl is lucky to have such a great role model.
Lawley went on to assert that mothers are “warriors”: “You created a life inside of you, that’s no easy feat”.
“As for my stretch marks”, she said.
“We put an unbelievable amount of ridiculous time consuming pressure on women to care so much about their flaws they forget how truly attractive they (you) are today”, Lawley wrote.
As you might expect, the gossip tabloids pounced on Lawley’s candid comments and twisted them around with headlines that played on the idea that Lawley was considering an abortion because she was afraid of stretchmarks (etc).
“When I saw Kate doing so well, I thought, ‘Wow, I actually might be shot for this because Heidi Klum [and others], they’re still a size six or a size eight and I’m a size 1”, she explained.
“It hurt so bad, the comments that ensued were derogatory to say the least”, she said. “And put your efforts into skills that rely more on your physical self”. These gossip pages do everything to get a view but to not even write your true name is cowardly.
‘It makes me mad seeing abortion discussed as a political agenda, women’s reproduction rights are in use for votes. I will always be pro choice.
Women’s rights should not be used so gimmicky and spoken about so poorly. So proud, in fact, that she doesn’t even call them that.
I love my daughter, I also love my human rights.
Rather than opt for a filter, or edit her tummy, the 26-year old had an important message to share – she wasn’t going to be made ashamed of her body, or let other negative factors take away from one of the most precious moments of her life.
We have to admire Robyn’s beauty, in being honest, open and standing up for every woman who has to make a choice.
