Blizzard To Introduce Battle.net Voice Chat In Overwatch Beta
“I think the Overwatch beta is what I would call a little more of an old school traditional beta”, Game Director Jeff Kaplan told IGN.
“We’re aiming to accomplish two primary goals with our public beta test: First, get tons of top-notch feedback on the gameplay – including balance, feel, and fun – to help us make Overwatch the best team-based shooter on the planet”, explains Blizzard in a new blog post. During a Beta Test Weekend, more players will be invited but those weekend tests focus on stressing servers and hardware. While its other games haven’t been quite so restricted, friends and family will soon be able to play together without resorting to third party services, as Blizzard is now set to introduce a voice chat system to the entire Battle.net ecosystem. After all, Battle.net is all about multiplayer gaming and community. Now we’re learning that it won’t just be part of Overwatch, but built into Battle.net itself.
Blizzard has revealed Overwatch will enter closed beta in Europe on October 27, the same day it does in North America.
Blizzard has stated that it’s too early in the development process to determine which games will be supported in the future.
However Blizzard did not close off the idea that it could eventually support more games. Players often opt to use external voice chat programs as a result.
