Patriots list Dion Lewis, Keshawn Martin inactive against Jets
The Jets got another break heading into Sunday afternoon’s game at the Patriots at Gillette Stadium when Pats running back Dion Lewis was officially declared inactive 90 minutes before kickoff because of an abdomen injury. He was also questionable last week but played vs. the Colts.
White was beat out for the job in the preseason by Lewis, but still showed signs of being capable passing-down back.
With both Lewis and Bolden (hamstring) ruled out, the Patriots will likely turn to James White as their top pass-catching back.
Second-year tackle Cameron Fleming figures to replace Cannon, who filled in for Nate Solder, now on the IR with a torn biceps.
The Jets’ inactives included no surprises. The running back has been dealing with an abdominal injury.
Ryan Wendell, Brandon LaFell and Trey Flowers are making their season debuts. Aaron Dobson, inactive the past two weeks, is active, too.
Lewis, who played through the injury in last Sunday’s victory over the Colts and was limited in practice throughout this week, still plans to test the injury before the game and then will make the final call.
