Anderson Cooper ‘Knew’ Sanders Would ‘Shut Down’ Talk of Hillary’s Email
USC students seemed torn over whether Bernie Sanders or Hillary Clinton won last night’s Democratic debate, but all agreed that it was not as entertaining as the Republican debate.
Among the 283 Democrats who watched the debate, a 54% chose Clinton as the victor; 24% chose Sanders.
Addressing the media’s coverage of the email controversy, Sanders said “I go around the country, talk to a whole lot of people”. Jim Webb by picking up 3% support in the Keystone State.
“Webb’s post follows his insistence, late Thursday that CNN moderator Anderson Cooper helped the network’s coverage skew toward Clinton and Sanders”.
Clinton, the Democratic Party’s presumed nominee for president, and Sanders, the often-gruff insurgent aiming to usher in a political revolution, both performed ably. They expounded on issues near and dear to their Democratic supporters: climate change, race relations, immigration reform, LGBT rights, criminal justice – and injustice. But there was more than a standing ovation for Sanders and Clinton. But Clinton appears to have picked up the support of a number of undecided voters, increasing her support from 44% to 52%. “It was pretty straightforward to me that he was going to give immunity to the only industry in America – everybody else has to be accountable, but not the gun manufacturers”.
Clinton’s campaign chairman John Podesta said Biden needs to decide now whether to run or not.
Suffolk had not polled Democratic voters in New Hampshire since June, when Clinton led by 10 points, 41 percent to 31 percent.
Television ratings firm Nielsen was to release its official viewership numbers for the Democratic debate later Wednesday. She met them and more, deflecting the few attacks lobbed her way and portraying herself as the best candidate to be commander-in-chief and to build on President Barack Obama’s legacy. That’s even after Sanders appeared to neutralize the topic when he described it in the debate as a distraction from the important issues, telling Clinton people are “sick and exhausted of hearing about your damn emails”. When asked whether he had ever been in handcuffs, Sanders replied, “I don’t know exactly what you mean by that”, prompting an eruption of laughter from the crowd, the New York Times reported.
