YouTube Red paid subscription service to debut with shows from PewDiePie, Tobuscus
YouTube is launching a subscription plan in the US this month that will give users unlimited advert-free access, as well as the media site’s music streaming service. YouTube has announced that beginning next year, YouTube Red members will get access to new, original series and movies from a few of YouTube’s biggest creators. You can see the full list of exclusive projects here.
Google describes YouTube Red as “the ultimate YouTube experience”. The new service will enable you to run videos in the background on mobile devices.
YouTube yesterday announced a new paid-subscription service that would eliminate advertisements as the video service behemoth looks to better tap its vast commercial potential. YouTube Red membership will be extended across all Google and YouTube services like Gmail, YouTube Music, YouTube Gaming and so on.
Don’t worry; if you still want to watch videos for free, you can. Users will have to pay $9.99 a month to benefit from all this (or use extensions). Along with abolishing the 30-60 second ads you have to watch before watching your favorite YouTuber’s content – you will be supporting your favorite content creator, much like TwitchTv.
If you are the type that tends to listen to a lot of music on YouTube, there is going to be a new YouTube Music app for Android that will be available soon.
Red will launch on October 28 in the US. “To make this subscription most compelling to them, as well as the broadcast audience on YouTube, we chose to create a site-wide membership called YouTube Red”.
