Pearson scores victor as Kings beat Oilers 3-2
Since the puck could not be seen in back of Quick’s glove in the overhead angle, like it was in nearly every other angle, it couldn’t be called a goal.
Tanner Pearson broke a tie late in the third period with his first goal since breaking his leg last season and the Los Angeles Kings beat the Edmonton Oilers 3-2 on Saturday night for their fifth straight win. “But you never know”.
“It wasn’t a goal”, said head coach Darryl Sutter after the game.
The officials got the Situation Room on the line and they confirmed the no goal call.

“It happened so fast”, McDavid said. I thought it could have gone in. The Kings are led by 23-year old forward Tyler Toffoli, who has scored five goals in his last four games. “It just shows that he’s a world-class goaltender”. They got one, but the character of this team came up again and we got one right back on them. The puck was loose and I just wanted to get it on net.
McDavid was the overall No. 1 pick in the draft this year and was quick to introduce himself to the Kings using his incredible speed to pass Jake Muzzin a Kings defender to help set up the first goal for Edmonton. “He played a great game”.
Should they do so, it seems Talbot should be able to hold down the fort on the back-end, giving the team a significantly improved chance of coming away with wins each night.
Quick was duly impressed by the Oilers and McDavid. Crucial in that victorious run last season, however, was the fact that New York finished the year as the third-highest scoring team in the league – concluding the campaign with a goals-for per game mark of 3.02. He’s a good player.
Pearson’s score came fewer than 3 minutes after Taylor Hall tied it for Edmonton on the power play following Brayden McNabb’s tripping minor.
All three were hard plays for the netminder due to either circumstance or defensive breakdowns, and all three came amidst a flurry of exceptional saves.
