Nike’s new Michael Jordan showplace

The store, set to open this weekend at 32 S. State St., is part of an effort by Nike to double Jordan brand sales to $4.5 billion by 2020, according to the Tribune.

Jordan Brand has unveiled a brand new, never-before seen, iteration of the Air Jordan XX3.

As always, with a new Jordan brand store opening we can always expect a few very nice restocks along with a few brand new releases.

“If you’re not in line, you are not going to get the most wanted shoes”, said Aziz Baker, who got in line Thursday morning for Saturday’s grand opening, and is no where near the front, reports Fox 32. Nike Chief Executive Mark Parker says the UNC alumnus’ popularity opens up a “world of opportunity” for the company. A floor drawing features a six-finger hand, reflecting Jordan’s six championship rings. Leather door handles are laser-etched with the recognizable elephant print featured on the Air Jordan 3.

It’s a gym for invited guests… mostly for teen athletes… with training areas to hone their hoop skills.

Those who are granted access will receive special edition jerseys and have the chance to try out new sneaker models before anyone else.

It’s a store that will certainly delight fans of Nike’s Michael Jordan brand.

But Mensah said the existing New York store sells primarily sportswear.

According to The Chicago Tribune, the ground floor alone has about 1,800 square feet devoted to Jordan goods – but it will also feature merchandise from the basketball stars Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul and Blake Griffin.

There’s also an indoor basketball court in New York, called Terminal 23, but, unlike in Chicago, it’s a separate space.
