IOS 9 is already running on 61% of Apple devices
“We’re confident wearables are the next big frontier – especially for our use case – and will improve the transit experience for our Android users”, said Jake Sion, Transit App’s director of strategy and development. That’s interesting as Google doesn’t often deviate from its Material Design paradigm, while these screenshots seem to point to an app that will still have that look and feel of Apple’s iOS platform. Apple hasn’t committed any egregious offenses in designing an Android app. Users will navigate Apple Music by using a slide-out menu accessible through the now-common hamburger icon (or, presumably, via a swipe from the left side), whereas the Music app on iOS keeps everything at the bottom.
Leaked screenshots have reportedly offered the first look at the Apple Music app for Android ahead of its official release.
So yeah, there’s nothing terribly surprising about this Android version of Apple Music. We’re certain that number will eventually grow over time when users start to get to grips with the service.
In terms of content, well Beats 1 is on board as expected, as is the Apple Music Connect social network for artists. Apple would most likely benefit from having the app available on as many operating systems as possible. This app, when it launches, will allow many more people to give Apple Music a try, so the service can compete directly with Spotify on even more devices.
At the Apple Music announcement, the company announced that the service will make its debut on the Android platform this fall, with different sources saying that the app could drop next month. Will we see a three-month trial period for Android users or will they have to opt-in to the $9.99 per month fee right out the gate?
