Alabama teacher wears blackface for Kanye West Halloween costume
Needless to say, no one is too thrilled about it. Morrow and his wife dressed as Kanye West and wife Kim Kardashian.
Heath Morrow, a fifth grade teacher in Decatur City Schools, dressed up in blackface and posed with a “Kanye for Prez 2020” sign in a photograph published online.
A fifth-grade teacher at the Chestnut Grove Elementary School in Alabama has possibly found himself in a few hot water due to a photo that surfaced on Reddit over the weekend of his and his wife’s Halloween couples costume, which quickly went viral.
According to Rawstory.com, Shannon initially posted the since-deleted photo to her Facebook page on Sunday, with the comment, “Haha a few people thought Heath was really a black man”.
Morrow issued an apology, referring to the controversial costume choice as an “error in judgement”.
If that were true, he wouldn’t have painted his skin. I see people for who they are, and my wife and I go out of our way to help anyone we can in my profession as an educator.
I’mma let you finish, but – that costume is straight-up racist. “I am just so confused”.
What’s worse is that Morrow actually thinks that saying he “doesn’t see color” makes him noble and inclusive, but it doesn’t. That would be because Heath and Shannon are both, in fact, white people.
Earlier this month, students at University of California, Los Angeles, members of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and Alpha Phi sorority were accused of wearing black face to a Kanye West-themed party. I don’t even know how to talk about it because it’s such a sensitive topic.
