Metta World Peace survives Lakers roster cuts
Continuing to raise awareness for mental-health disorders, Los Angeles Lakers forward Metta World Peace will once again raffle off something he earned while playing in the National Basketball Association. He’s there to provide a few leadership, and that’s why he’s on the roster over the 22-year-old Brown, who showed a few flashes of competence with the Lakers last season.
World Peace played in China and Italy last season.
World Peace is willing to part with his trophy if it means raising awareness and money for a cause he believes in.
Brown is the team’s final cut as the roster now sits at 15 players in advance of the start of the regular season. Sports’ Shams Charania, the team plans for World Peace to eventually transition into an assistant coach.
Having attending two preseason games this year, World Peace creates a buzz throughout the arena that can not be explained. Head coach Byron Scott has stressed the importance of a strong defense.
Brown appeared in six games for the Lakers this preseason, averaging 6.0 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 0.8 assists in 14.3 minutes per game. However, Brown and the Lakers have not commented about his future.
The Lakers will host the Minnesota Timberwolves October 29 at the Staples Center.
