Part of Dallas parking garage collapses
– A Dallas condo building’s parking garage remains closed as engineers try to determine why it partially collapsed and if what remains is safe.
A portion of the garage at The Renaissance complex on Turtle Creek Boulevard caved just after 5 p.m., residents said. and cars fell through multiple levels.
A pool on top of the parking garage was being remodeled, according to several residents, and “bricks and dirt were sitting atop the garage, collecting rain during the overnight and afternoon storms”, the newspaper reported.
Evans said five live find disaster dogs ran the collapse zone without a “life hit”.
Photos from inside the parking structure show the collapse affected most, if not all, of the floors.
The collapse began on the top level of the seven-story garage and broke through all levels.
He said DFR personnel and engineers will stay on site to help monitor the structural integrity of the building and that property engineers will make the final determination as to what to do with the building moving forward.
It took several hours for investigators to comb the debris.
