Johnny Depp, Neil Gaiman, Edgar Wright come together for ‘Fortunately, the Milk’
But if anyone can get the best out of Depp, it might be Edgar Wright, who is teaming up with the actor for Fortunately, the Milk, an adaptation of a children’s book by Neil Gaiman.
Wright would helm the film, which is meant to be a live-action/animation hybrid which will have a script by Bret McKenzie, the writer known as being one half of the musical comedy duo Flight of the Conchords.
Wright most recently directed “The World’s End” and is about to start filming “Baby Driver” with Ansel Elgort, Lily James, Jon Hamm and Jamie Foxx.
Depp stars as infamous gangster Whitey Bulger in Black Mass, now in theaters. He also has sequels to “Alice in Wonderland” and “Pirates of the Caribbean” on the horizon.
“I bought the milk”, said my father.
Fortunately, The Milk is a New York Times bestselling story of time travel and breakfast cereal. When their father goes out and returns, his story gets wilder and wilder, involving aliens, pirates, ponies, wumpires, dinosaurs, time travel, adventure and more. Chris Riddell provided the illustrations for the book. “Fortunately the Milk” is the latest in his works to receive an adaptation, coming after “Stardust”, “Coraline” and “Neverwhere”.
