Day of the Tentacle Remastered debut screenshots
Speaking to Shacknews at IndieCade, Double Fine VP of Development Matt Hansen made sure to point out that the full Maniac Mansion game is indeed fully intact within Day of the Tentacle Remastered. So if we were gonna do something like one of the other games, it would only be if the original creator wanted to work on it with us.
I hadn’t played Maniac Mansion, but I had recognised the LucasArts logo having played and loved Monkey Island so it was a no brainer. According to Eurogamer the game will offer cross-buy support between the PS4 and the PS Vita. It stars a rather power hungry tentacle and three friends, who travel through time using custom crafted toilets, to attempt to thwart the evil appendage’s plans.
And soon, I’ll get to experience it again thanks to the aforementioned HD remake. To really see the difference between the original and the updated take on the game, check out the comparison below.
The remaster also gives a new coat of paint to the sound and interface, and comes complete with an audio commentary from Tim Schafer, Dave Grossman, Larry Ahern, Peter Chan, Peter McConnell, and Clint Bajakian. We don’t even remember those jarring pixels that would make us cringe if found in a game released in 2015. “We had a lot of fun with [Grim Fandango Remastered] but when we first started, I thought ‘No one’s going to care about old games.’ But they had such a passionate response to it”.
Though “Day of the Tentacle Remastered” will be coming out sometime in 2016, publisher Double Fine has recently unleashed a number of new screenshots that might please fans of the game.
