Israel air raid hits Gaza
The IAF struck two Hamas targets in southern Gaza a few hours after a rocket attack on southern Israel. The IDF Spokesman Unit said that it viewed Hamas as being responsible for all terrorist activities in the Strip.
No injuries or damages were reported in the rocket launch on Monday evening, as the rocket exploded in an open territory, according to the Israeli army and police.
Israeli warplanes have carried out airstrikes on areas in the south and center of the besieged Gaza Strip.
The Sheikh Omar Hadid Brigades, a pro-Islamic State Salafist group operating inside Gaza, which claims that Hamas members are “traitors” and “collaborationists”, has been behind most of the recent attacks, in what the IDF says is an attempt to provoke Israel into responding.
This is the second rocket to be fired on the area in less than one week, with the last incident occurring last Wednesday.
The late Monday raids on the Palestinian coastal enclave followed reports of an alleged rocket attack from Gaza on southern Israel earlier in the day.
Over 2,200 Palestinians, including 577 children, were killed in a 50-day Israeli military aggression against Gaza, which started in early July and ended on August 26 past year. In addition, they have staged protests in solidarity with West Bank Palestinians who have repeatedly clashed with Israeli troops.
