Chewbacca arrested in Ukraine
A Ukrainian artist has given a fitting nod to Lenin, transforming a statue of the Soviet dictator into Darth Vader.
Not exactly a friendly face, or one looked upon with great fondness in the Ukraine, which previous year passed “anti-communization” laws aimed at stripping remnants of the Soviets from the public psyche and arena. Naturally, hundreds of statues will be demolished and the statues of Vladimir Lenin across the country would have to be destroyed.
The statue-complete with Vader’s infamous mask and flowing cape-also sports a Wi-Fi hookup that emits beams from his head, reports local news site Dumskaya. Vader’s breathing apparatus was also added to front of the statue.
It’s been quite a few weeks for Star Wars fans. “I wish to save the monuments of history”, Milov said using a metaphor of how in doing so, it is like he is saving a memory of his country inside a computer’s system.
“If you want to take a selfie with them, go ahead, I allow that, but expelling my bodyguards is not allowed”, Darth Vader was quoted by the television channel as telling election officials.
“We didn’t want to vandalize the statue but the monument to Lenin was due to be dismantled in connection with the new law”.
Ukrainians seemed to have this amusing obsession of Star Wars.
Who was further on the Dark Side spectrum, Lenin or Vader?
