Encounter in Kashmir, Army jawan injured
Two Hizbul Mujahideen militants and an army officer were killed in an encounter South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
The JCO sustained injuries in the early exchange of fire between the two sides and later succumbed.
Further details of the incident are awaited, he added. As such the joint team of forces intensified the searches in the village, the militants, believed to be two in number, opened fire, triggering a firefight, they said. An Army jawan was also reportedly killed.
A senior army officer said that operation was launched after army received specific information about militant presence in the area.
A gunfight broke out between terrorists and security forces today evening in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
“The slain militants have been identified as Afaqullah Bhat and Abdul Manan Dar, while the soldier killed was identified as Naik Subedar K.V.S. Reddy”.
