Cowboys downplay Hardy’s tirade on sideline
The Cowboys are entering this Sunday’s game posting a record of 2-3, putting them in third place in their division.
While the Dallas Cowboys haven’t been known to run the tightest ship, they may be even more lenient with Hardy’s behavior while a few of their talent recovers. But if you are a Cowboys fan and you want to see them turn their season around, you should want someone to hold their teammates accountable and that’s exactly what Hardy did.
On Sunday night, Garrett called Hardy’s actions “encouraging”. The Cowboys have lost four straight games for the first time since Jason Garrett took over as head coach in 2010.
Garrett and owner Jerry Jones said the Hardy incident was not an issue.
“The NFL’s investigation concluded that Hardy violated the Personal Conduct Policy by using physical force against Nicole Holder in at least four instances”. Blame the media if you must, but the media is part of the billion-dollar 24/7 world of the National Football League, and guys like this affect teams. Apparently, it all gets worked out in the end as just motivation and building each other up for better play, but these large men fighting is pretty scary. But, unfortunately, you also get to see every argument or disagreement that players and coaches have on the sideline during an emotional game.
“Anybody who has played athletics long enough has been around individuals who have played with passion, and the thing about those types of individuals and those types of personalities is being able to put boundaries around them to get great play out of them on the field but to set the expectations that you are a professional and act professional”, Hennings said at an event at AT&T Stadium meant to raise awareness and prevent domestic violence.
Garrett, who was standing next to Hardy and special-teams coach Rich Bisaccia during their confrontation, said Sunday that Hardy was just attempting to encourage his teammates.
“I think Greg is an incredibly passionate player, and obviously, yesterday was full of emotion, particularly at that time, and I think that’s what you saw is a lot of emotion and frustration in a game that we all were hoping would go a different way”, said Jones-Anderson. The source also said, if Bryant can’t make it this week, the Cowboys fully expect Bryant to be on the field the following week against the Philadelphia Eagles. “He earns it and he earns it with respect from all of his teammates and that’s the kind of thing that inspires a football team”, Jones told reporters.
-PASSING OFFENSE: F. Matt Cassel threw three interceptions and had one returned for a touchdown in a seven-point loss.
In the modern game, with cameras everywhere, we just get used to players shouting at each other. Do you believe Hardy’s temper was out of control or is that just the game of football?
Hardy’s rant, though, was all the talk nationally Monday. The Cowboys listed an illness as Hardy’s official reason for missing practice.
