Sherlock’s Special Episode Gets Release Date
When the Sherlock holiday special was first announced, fans were initially delighted at the thought of a story set in Arthur Conan Doyle’s original 19th Century setting. This is the first time that “Sherlock” has premiered in the U.S. and the United Kingdom on the same day. It’s a special event anyway, so why not have a little fun with these two actors who have become icons in the roles. The likes of Rupert Graves, Louise Brealey, Jonathan Aris, Amanda Abbington and Una Stubbs will all be around, but given Victorian twists.
The specials official air date was revealed to be January 1st 2016 during the panel, writer Mark Gatiss also said “There’s something in the special, which was a sheer delight from beginning to end”. St Paul’s pokes it’s spire through a nicely thick pea-souper and, by the looks of it, there’s a shoot-out on the cobbled streets of the capital too. “Sherlock: The Abominable Bride” is a 90-minute “Sherlock” special.
“Sherlock” fans have been over the moon since the announcement, and now, new information has surfaced, revealing the title for the New Year’s special.
There is also what is technically a new trailer for the Sherlock special.
Moffat appeared at London’s ComicCon alongside Sherlock co-creator Mark Gatiss and producer Sue Vertue, who confirmed the show will air in the U.S. on the same day. “Victorian era gives us a chance to do a creepy one, a scary one”.
The series’ titular star, Emmy-winner Benedict Cumberbatch, and costar Martin Freeman will return as Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic Baker Street mystery solvers Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson.
Even better than that, the Christmas special will be available to view in select cinemas across the country on the same day, with tickets going on sale on November 2. Well, there’s good news on that front, too: Filming begins in spring 2016.
