‘Spectre’ Daniel Craig Still ‘Undecided’ If He Should Play Bond Again
Craig, 47, who returns to screens next week in the 24th 007 film “Spectre”, revealed: “I play a tough guy, but that’s not me”.
A cryptic message from the past sends James Bond (Daniel Craig) on a rogue mission to Mexico City and eventually Rome, where he meets Lucia Sciarra (Monica Bellucci), the attractive and forbidden widow of an infamous criminal.
“Not really, no”, responded Craig. For me, to tell a story, to tell an emotional story, that’s what you’ve got to do. “I think he’d only just had it just done that was the thing”.
With the release of new James Bond film Spectre just a matter of days away, Graham Norton assembled the key cast members on his sofa to talk about the latest outing for 007. But as I said, I reserve the right to change my mind.
“He moves so quickly and is so agile and for me, I think the sequences with him are all the more terrifying because of his presence”, Craig said.
The interview took a turn for the surreal when she attempted to gift Craig a giant vehicle sticker with his wife Rachel Weisz’s name on it, before the clip abruptly cut out catching the morning studio hosts unawares. And I went, ‘That’s what I can do something with! It was going to have the gags in it, what Pierce did, what Sean had done. “I would have been totally at peace with it”, he said. In an attempt to kick-start debate, I’ve compiled a shortlist – and seek your feedback on my nominations to Bond…Jane Bond.
But insisting he has never been in it for the money, Daniel replies: “I’ll genuinely say that I have never done any job for the money”. Powell requested the celebrity show off his “Daniel Craig pout”, but he wouldn’t do it. Even though he explained that he didn’t know what she was talking about-all while chuckling it off-she wouldn’t let it go. When someone like that wants to be a Bond girl, you just count yourself lucky! His curt answer to the next fawning question – “Surely Bond has a few inspirational personality traits?” – is a debilitating blow to the interviewer, who throughout the whole conversation blows smoke up 007’s butt.
