Salman Khan Welcomes ‘Real Life Munni’ Geeta As She Returns To India
The story of Geeta is similar to the movie except that she was an Indian girl stranded in Pakistan.
Geeta returned back to India on Monday after 13 years and the country welcomed her with open arms. She was spotted by the Pakistan Rangers in Lahore, and later handed over to the Edhi Foundation, a social welfare organisation that looked after her for over 10 years. The Bhajrangi Bhaijan makers were delighted on the impact their movie created and Geeta has expressed her desire to meet the hero, Salman Khan.
Let’s contrast these gestures – the real life and the filmi – with what happened in Mumbai earlier this month. The Shiv Sena, through its film wing the Chitrapat Sena, sent a letter to the organizers asking them to cancel the concert.
“Bajrangi Bhaijaan” told the story of Pawan Chaturvedi who takes a deaf and mute Pakistani child Munni lost in India, back to her home across the border. And moviegoers loved this gesture of hope.
