Coastal flood warning in affect this week
The National Weather Service issued coastal flood advisories for south coast into southeast Georgia on Monday morning warning of street and lowland flooding – the second round of flooding after historic rains earlier this month. “North of Point Conception they’re a lot higher and more dangerous” – 8 to 12 feet, Seto said.
With a full-moon Tuesday morning, the National Weather Service said high tide along the San Diego County coast is expected to reach 7.2-feet in the morning, and peak Wednesday morning. “They have to keep in mind to swim parallel to the shore in order to get back”.
“There will be a risk of coastal flooding during this time as elevated water levels result from the combination of building surf and unusually high tides”, the statement said.
In San Luis Obispo County, the areas most likely to be affected include the beaches in the Pismo and Oceano area.
Flood-prone areas of South Florida are expected to once again deal with rising water as the annual king tide rolls in Tuesday and Wednesday.
Seto said the flooding will mainly affect parking lots and roadways near the beaches, although water might also reach a few homes. Sandbags to help protect homeowners against flooding were available for pickup at fire stations in Venice, Westchester, Playa Vista and Mar Vista.
