New Orleans police officer shot
Whoever shot a veteran NOPD officer and sent him to the hospital Sunday night is still on the loose, the department said Monday.
According to police, Commander Derek Frick is in stable condition at University Medical Center with a non-life threatening injury.
Darlene Cusanza with Crimestoppers says $5,000 of the reward will be paid when an arrest is made and the balance will be awarded when an indictment is returned.
The officer was not wearing a police uniform at the time of the shooting and was driving an unmarked police auto.
Police said they are looking for a brown or gold-colored SUV, likely a GMC or Chevy.
“It does have dark-tinted windows, and it is believed to have fled into the old Desire-area housing development around Sidney Duplessis and Higgins Boulevard”, NOPD Cmdr. An SUV pulled up alongside and someone fired into Frick’s vehicle, striking him in the neck, police said. Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
